EAPs were first introduced in the 1940s to discreetly help employees battling alcohol addiction. Based on that experience, EAPs have learned that there is a broader range of issues that similarly compromise an employee’s ability to work: family and financial problems, addiction, depression, anxiety and the full gamut of life events, from having a baby to being relocated.
